THESE Memories Last Forever.

Assalamualaikum people,, ;D

The day that everybody has been waiting for…
We started of with a short speech by our dean, unfortunately she could not join us in the class, she had something more important to do. Before I start with anything, I would just like to say that the feeling of presenting a project in front of 6 to 8 lecturers including the facilitators is soooo not cool. Not even close. But somehow, we managed to get it done.

MeranProduction – Back Then
Shafasafiratin – SAHABAT
Cha Cha Production – Rukhsah Solat

The video that we did was on SAHABAT, and this is our video…

And this is our poster..

In whole, the comments given were very positive and it was all compliments in fact. I would like to thank the lecturers and the facilitators for helping us. a lot. I really hope that I can apply this kind of teaching in my future as a teacher. Thank you to Miss Aida for coming. πŸ˜€
Good job and well done UKM TESL 2011/2015. πŸ˜€

Week 13. one week left for THE big day!

Assalamualaikum and a very salam sejahtera.. πŸ˜€

Alrite, week 13 was fun, as usual. We was taught how to use adobe photoshop. Maybe for a guy like fahmi, imran, fns, tikah, they are experts in editting photo. But for me, an ordinary girl, who doesn’t know anything about photoshop, I found that this class really helps me.In fact, a lot. Thank you En. Hilmi for sharing your knowledge about photoshop with us. πŸ™‚

adobe-photoshop-logo

We were taught about the layers of the photo, which is very important in photoshop. The backgrounds, selections of colour, how to insert text, how to make crop the subject according to their lines, how to make clear subject with blur backgroud and vice versa.

It was so fun, then Pn.Hazriati gave the tentative for next week’s class , which is THE BIG DAY! presentation in front of the dean. She also told us about what Β is needed to be in the slideshows and I am so nervous, even now I’m starting to feel that ‘feeling’ already. Lets just pray that the day will go well and joyful.. πŸ˜€

May peace be upon you… πŸ™‚

Week Twelve… Learning Something New :D

Assalamualaikum and Hello folks.. πŸ˜€

Last week’s class was interesting and fun, as always, we had three different session with three different lecturer/facilitator who were Pn. Hazrati, Pn. Aidah and also En.Hilmi.

The first session was about the CASPER technique that has to be used and applied in making powerpoint slides. To be honest, I don’t really know that there are techniques in making slides because normally I just do it like I want it to be, colourful, not to much words and stuff. Just like below :

Capture

Capture1

These are the techniques that had been taught by Pn. Hazriati :

The CASPER technique ;

C- Contrast ( in contrasting, you need to be able to make a differentiation about the different details)

A- Alignment ( whether it is symmetrical or assymetrical balace)

S- Simplicity (avoid using to complex graphic, but make sure simple is actually attractive)

P- Proximity ( the distance between the elements, the text, graphic)

E- Emphasis ( the emphasis on the important elements)

R- Repetition ( the way you convey your message, but not that much as it may be boring)

I really learn a lot in how to improve in making slides so that the message will be much more clearer.

Next session, was with Pn.Aidah, she taught us Information Literacy, she seems so confident in what she is talking about, and I liked that so much. She has the aura of making people listening to her when she is talking in front of the class. In fact, we can see how well prepared she was because she includes lots of reference in her session, just to make us understand it much more clearly. There are some topics that will surely come out during the exams, the references can be used as a guide to kind of cover the lecture given.

Information Literacy is the ability to identify what information is needed, understand how the information is organized, identify the best sources of information for a given need, locate those sources, evaluate the sources critically, and share that information. It is the knowledge of commonly used research techniques.Β Information literacy skills are used for academic purposes, such as research papers and group presentations. They’re used on the jobβ€”the ability to find, evaluate, use and share information is an essential skill. Consumer decisions, such as which car or vacuum cleaner to purchase, are critical. You’ll also use these skills by participating fully in a democratic society as an informed citizen by understanding issues and voting.Β Information literacy is critically important because we are surrounded by a growing ocean of information in all formats. Not all information is created equal: some is authoritative, current, reliable, but some is biased, out of date, misleading, false. The amount of information available is going to keep increasing. The types of technology used to access, manipulate, and create information will likewise expand. (http://www.webs.uidaho.edu/info_literacy/)

At first, I was a bit lost, because I dont really know what is it all about, but after the explanation given by Pn. Aidah, Alhamdulillah, I manage to understand. πŸ˜€

And the last session was with En. Hilmi, and it was on Adobe Premiere. πŸ˜€ Unfortunately, there were only few computers that can really access this adobe thingy, my computer can’t, so I shared computers with my lovely groupmates. πŸ™‚

adobe-premiere-pro-v1

Adobe premiere was about editing video which is different than windows movie maker BUT very hard okay. -_-”
It takes time to master the steps to edit video, and get familiar with the settings.

Learning is always fun, exciting, but its a process, therefore, it needs to be practiced in order to apply them easily in the future. Next week will be the second last week of this semester, and I am feeling nervous because of the video that we will present it in front of the dean I guess? I’m hoping that next week will be a week full of joy after working for so long, and I want everything to go well, eventhough the presentation will be on the final week, but, you know, when you have a week full of presentation right from the beginning of the week till the end? Its hard. In fact, really hard, but Allah knows that we can do this together, if not, we will not be tested like this. This is one of the challenge that we need to face as a student. This is only the beginning, tonnes of unpredictable things could happen in the future. We are TESL, we’ll do fine. Absolutely fine. πŸ˜€

Thank You Pn. Hazriati, Pn. Aidah and En. Hilmi for the guide πŸ˜€ and Ummi, you’re the best… πŸ˜€

Thank You So Much.. πŸ˜€

May Peace Be Upon You.. πŸ˜‰

Week 11 – How to edit video? :D

Hello there people! πŸ™‚

Umi is here today! yeay! Umi just came back from Jordan, and she bought us gitfs! yeay! yeay!yeay! Thank you Umi.

Okay, today’s session was about learning how to use Windows Movie Maker, meaning learning how to edit video, and this session was conducted by En. Hilmi.

Mr. Wiki says that :

Windows Movie MakerΒ (formerly known asΒ Windows Live Movie Maker, codenamedΒ Sundance, for Windows 7) is aΒ video editing softwareΒ that is a part ofΒ Microsoft‘sΒ Windows EssentialsΒ software suite.Β Windows Movie Maker offers the ability to create and edit videos and then publish them toΒ SkyDrive,Β Facebook,Β YouTube, andΒ FlickrΒ free of charge.

We were taught how to import videos and combine the short scenes into one shot.

Video effects, video transitions, titles and credits at selected clips, after clips, before clips, inserting audio, splitting audio, splitting videos, were clearly explained by En. Hilmi. πŸ™‚

There are not much of difference between windows movie maker and live movie maker. Both of them are used for the same purpose that is editing video, but live movie maker allows you to publish them straight away once you have completed your video.

Always remember to save your video every time you have done editing the scenes, because once its hang, every single thing you did will dissapear. Believe me, you dont want that to happen.

that’s the kind of expression u will get when you spend the whole night editing the video, and just gone.gone with the wind. -_-

It was a very interesting learning session. Then, we were told to make a poster with a synopsis of the process of getting these work done included in the poster. InsyaAllah, we’ll manage how to get it done.

Well, thats it for now.. πŸ˜€

XOXO
Syira ❀

Almost There. Week 10 :D

Hey there, I hope everyone is still doing fine with all the assignments that has to be done within this few weeks left before exams.

As usual, this class is where we will always have lots of fun, I’m not saying that its not stress at all being in this class, there are also tonnes of things to do, reflections, video, posters and what not, its just that i feel less stress being in this class. πŸ˜€

Okay, back to the reflection, as for this week, we are supposed to present 90% of our video. But most of us were able to present only the draft of our video. We are so sorry En. Hilmi and Pn. Hazriati. 😦

So,shafasafiratin was the first to present. This is our fist draft of Sahabat.

There were comments on improvising the video and we will improve it. πŸ˜€ It was too short I think, and the message is just not clear I guess. Nevermind, we’ll make it better. We are still in the process of combining all the photos and videos we’ve took from previous session of shooting.

Then, Fahmi’s group present their video, and I think they have completed their video. Their video was about a trip to Broga and it was fantastic.

There were only 2 groups who present in the front of the class, as for the others, I’m not sure what they are up to, but I’m sure there are doing well. πŸ˜‰

The remaining groups had a consultation session with En. Hilmi and Pn. Hazriati. I still dont see that expression of satisfaction for our work from both of them. InsyaAllah, we will make the video much more better. πŸ˜€

That’s it for now..
May peace be upon you.. πŸ™‚

Week 7 . Week 8 . Week 9 . All In One :O

Assalamualaikum to all the bloggers. *cewwah

First of all I would like to say sorry for not posting any post for quite a long long time. I was so busy doing my assignments and did not have time to blog. As for these 3 weeks, I could not post a video on the reflections but I think by blogging will be as fine as vlogging. Its just that you cant see my facial expressions. πŸ˜€

Okay, back to the story. There was no class during week 7 due to Raya Haji, I celebrated my Raya in Shah Alam with my aunties and uncles and cousins and grandmas. oops. grandma, who is my father’s mother. I enjoyed myself eating kambing so much and got headache and yes. serve me right. Holidays just make me feel good and happy and cheerful because I just tend to forget about all my problems an just comfort myself with food, movies, and you know those fun things to do, and when holidays are over, well, here comes the trouble. :OΒ

I feel like punching my face when I realize I did not do any assignments during the holidays. Why syira? Why did you procastinate? *DushDush

However I managed to get it done, πŸ˜€ Yeay! So, for this week, we did a short discussion on what event can we come up with to present our video production. We did the discussion with En. Hilmi. πŸ˜‰ and he suggested that we should invite the dean and all the other students of our faculty to see our video! Noooooo!

I think we should just make it short and simple, dont you think so? Ah, nevermine. Let it be. The thing that I am worried of is our video. We have completed about 30 percent of it which is by taking pictures for the video in Putrajaya.

Image

Ain’t that pretty? πŸ˜€

So, we are still in the progress of making it a success. We’ll try our best and be as creative as possible. Because, the message is the most important element I belief. πŸ™‚

Okay, then we explore Adobe Sound Booth with En. Hilmi. He taught us a lot. Oh God, We are so blessed to have En. Hilmi.

image

It was fun and cool because we learn how to fade in, fade out the noise, cut the noise, insert sound clips and we enjoyed ourselves.

Then, Pn Hazriati came in. She had to attend a kindergarten function earlier, I think. So, she told us about the timeline of this course,I mean what things that should get done by certain time of period. Supposedly, we should be able to present 90 percent of our video this upcoming class, but unfortunately Ummi went to Jordan, and she will not be able to join us. 😦 Nevermind, we will share it through blog yeah Ummi. Have a save journey and we will always pray for you. πŸ˜€Β

Oh Yes, there was no class for Week 9, because Ummi gave us extra time to work on our video. Thank you once again Ummi. Until we meet again.Β

May peace be upon you. πŸ˜€

Reflection Of The Sixth Week Of Class

Assalamualaikum,

Well, i would called the class for this week as ‘A Day Out Of The Lab’
Friday, 19th of October 2012, there was this one girl, who sleep late the night before, and she tried to wake up so hard just to attend her class which was supposed to be at 8.00 o’clock in the MORNING, for a girl like me, 5 minutes on the bed in the morning does matter okay.I accidently woke up late and I did think of skipping the class because I was so sleepy and want to sleep more, but I don’t want to ruin my attendance for that particular class, and then, I force myself to wake up, took my bath and off to class. I was so proud of myself because to me it is an achievement. BIG achievement.

When I entered the class, my friends were so busy doing their own stuff, some of them were chit chatting, doing their assignments, their discussons and what not. Right after I entered the class, I was informed that the class has been CANCELLED.

yes. CANCELLED. There goes my friday morning, doin’ nothin.

Anyway, let bygones be bygones, tick tock tick tock its 10 am.
Pn.Hazrati entered the class and told us that there will be a short class for today for about 30 minutes and then we are going to have a PICNIC with Umi Rosseni. O MY GOD. Picnic Picnic Picnic !!! Umi made my day. Our day I believe.

As for the first 30 minutes of class, Pn. Hazrati and En. Hilmi did a recap of last week’s class and a consultation session for our group work project which is the video production. Everything went well alhamdulillah.
During the picnic session, there were nasi lemak,, cheesecake, i repeat, cheesecake. πŸ˜€
As the picnic goes on, there was this session where En. Hilmi shoot a video for each and one of us about our opinions of this course.

I enjoyed myself so much with friends and Umi and En. Hilmi and Pn. Hazrati and Kak Ana and all. πŸ˜€
I guess the learning outcome is not that much maybe bacause we had great time laughing and eating and shooting videos. Thank You All. πŸ˜€ Oh Yes, before I forgot, we need to improvise our storyline for our video later. We’ll do it as soon as possible. InsyaAllah. πŸ˜€

There will be no class for next week due to Raya Haji celebration. Slamat Hari Raya Haji in advance people. πŸ˜€

May peace be upon you.. πŸ™‚

Reflection Of The Fifth Week Of Class

Assalamualaikum..
Once again, Ummi was not able to be there with us during the class due to some difficulties, but its okay, because we have En. Hilmi and Pn. Hazrati to help us out and make the session as interesting as usual..
Alhamdulillah, this is the fifth week of class, I made it till this point. I managed to get all the assignments done.

As for this week, Pn. Hazrati took the first half session of the class, what we learn was about instructional design and also the models of instructional design..
What is Instructional Design?
Instructional Design is practice of creating “instructional experiences which make the acquisition of knowledge and skill more efficient, effective, and appealing. The process consists broadly of determining the current state and needs of the learner, defining the end goal of instruction, and creating some “intervention” to assist in the transition. Ideally the process is informed by pedagogically (process of teaching) and andragogically (adult learning) tested theories of learning and may take place in student-only, teacher-led or community-based settings. The outcome of this instruction may be directly observable and scientifically measured or completely hidden and assumed. There are many instructional design models but many are based on the ADDIE model with the five phases:
1) analysis,
2) design,
3) development,
4) implementation, and
5) evaluation.
As a field, instructional design is historically and traditionally rooted in cognitive and behavioral psychology, though recently Constructivism (learning theory) has influenced thinking in the field.

The Instructional Design process provides a framework for thoroughly planning, developing, and adapting instruction, based on learner needs and content requirements. Although this process is essential in distance education, where the instructor and students may share limited common background and typically have minimal face-to-face contact, it is also important in traditional classroom environments where new instructional technology is being used to teach. Even though instructional development models are plentiful, the majority follows the same basic categories of design, development, evaluation, and revision. (Carey, 1990) The “ADDIE” model, which stands for Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation, represents one of these basic models of Instructional Design. For the purpose of this article, we will take a closer look at this popular model and focus on the delivery aspect of instruction.

And then, En. Hilmi took over the last half session of the class. He taught us on how to shoot a video.. There are few techniques.. which are :
zoom
pan
dolly
truck
tilt

He also taught us the tips in making a video and also taking photos by using camera..
The class was so fun. If Ummi was with us, I bet the class will be much more fun.. I hope Ummi will be there next week.. We miss you Ummi.. 😦

May peace be upon you..

Reflection Of The Fourth Week Of Class (continuation)

Assalamualaikum people, πŸ™‚

So as for this 4th week of class, this is the continuation of what I’ve posted previously. Basically, the tentative is like below :
10.00-10.30am: Photography Technique – A Sharing of Experience Session with Faisal
10.30-11.00am: TESL Yr 2 Students Readiness towards Hybrid Meaningful Learning 2.0
11.00-11.30pm: Break for β€œKopi & Nasi Lemak plus Karipap Kak Anna”
11.30-11.45pm: Pn. Hazrati – Sharing Samples of Reflections as Required by the Course
11.45-12.45pm: Optimizing Blogs & FB Group for Communication in Completing the Course Task – En. Helmi with Pn. Hazrati and Kak Anna

To be honest, the sentence ‘break for “kopi & nasi lemak plus karipap kak anna’ was the first that captured my eyes. But we together decided to have the jamuan after the class end.We started the class by answering the survey of Hybrid Meaningful Learning 2.0 online. It was about 100 questions if I’m not mistaken. The objective of the survey is to get opinions from students about HML2 as the teaching method and learning process for us students. Personally, like I’ve said before, HML2 learning style is up to date. It enhances the students like me especially to be a bit more advance so that it will not be a problem to get the students of mine to give their attention to the fullest during my class soon ( when i am teacher, soon,InsyaAllah). To get people’s attention when we are talking needs good skills. Once the student start to yawn, the mission to achieve the objective of the day, fails. So, by this kind of teaching and learning method, it makes the student to really get into their learning process, not just by listening only, but the need to move, write, listen, react is also important to make them much more productive.

So, the next session was with En. Faisal, he taught us photography technique. We start of with The Rule Of Thirds.

‘What is that gridy(is that even a word) thingy?’that was my reactions when I see it at first. I dont have any basics in photography, at all. But,as he explains, things get better. Those points are the centre of interest whenever we take pictures, just to make our picture look much more nicer and balanced.Just like this :

this,

and this,

Movin’ on to the second technique, which is Aesthetic Exposure Triangle..

This triangle is consist of 3 components, which are Aperture – Depth of Field, Shutter Speed – Sharpness and lastly ISO (grain).

1)Aperture – Depth of Field
Depth of field refers to the range of distance that appears acceptably sharp. It varies depending on camera type, aperture and focusing distance, although print size and viewing distance can also influence our perception of depth of field.

2)Shutter Speed – Sharpness
shutter speed is β€˜the amount of time that the shutter is open.
Longer shutter speeds = more light
shorter shutter speeds = less light

3)ISO (grain)
Relatively insensitive film, with a correspondingly lower speed index requires more exposure to light to produce the same image density as a more sensitive film, and is thus commonly termed a slow film. Highly sensitive films are correspondingly termed fast films.
In both digital and film photography, the reduction of exposure corresponding to use of higher sensitivities generally leads to reduced image quality (via coarser film grain or higher image noise of other types). In short, the higher the sensitivity, the grainier the image will be.

Thank You Mr. Faisal. πŸ™‚ it was full of information..

Then, En. Helmi took over the class and he taught us how to upload a video from youtube into our blogs. Now, I have my official youtube account,I am going to try to upload one video rite now..

Alhamdulillah, things that I dont know how to do at first, now I know how to do it. Thanks to En. Helmi who helped us a lot. Then, he told us about facebook group chat, our discussions should be there so that Umi can also get involved and just comment or even guide us to a better plan maybe, for our group.

The class ended. It was time to MAKAN. Nyum2, we were starving like crazy. Thank You Umi,thank you so much, eventhough Umi was not there with us, it would be much more fun if Umi was there.

Last but not least, thank you to Pn. Hazrati, if she didnt tell us about the criteria of the reflections.I dont know what would have happen, Sometimes, I cant avoid from being careless, due to the other assignments I’m doing. Kak Anna, the karipap were great, thank you once again.

I will upload my first video which is the introduction video soon. InsyaAllah… May peace be upon you.. πŸ™‚
